install both files in same directory. chmod 755 jobstart; edit jobstart and jobscript, create executable in same directory. start batch job via: jobstart. check queue via: qstatall.

Bei der Bearbeitung des Kontos habe ich noch gemerkt, dass ich ein
Ausstand in meinen Antworten habe. Also mit vielen Entschuldigungen

The mechanism limiting the validity of the accounts does not allow
for an easy warning to the system manager (which could then be
propagated). The user will be warned during the login some time
before the expiration of the account and should then apply for the
extension of the validity. I plan to delete accounts which have not
been used for more than one year (after a written warning, of course).

Beispiele sind vorhanden in http://www.asgard.ethz.ch/faq/,
asgard:/usr/doc/asgard/PBS und in den Installationen selber.
Die meisten Benutzer, die parallel arbeiten, brauchen MPI.

Theoretisch kann man alle 240 Knoten brauchen (nach Absprache).
Praktische Limiten sind aufgefuehrt in
  asgard:/usr/doc/asgard/PBS/queue_layout
Die verfuegbaren Knoten in den einzelnen Subsets sind normalerweise:
  frame07  24
  large   128
  bigsngl  88
aber die genaue Zuteilung kann je nach der Auslastung der Maschine
varieren.

Ja. Die Zahl 999 im queue_layout ist nur symbolisch. Es empfiehlt
sich allerdings die superlangen jobs nicht an allen 24 Knoten laufen
zu lassen, da sonst niemand mehr die creeper queue brauchen kann.

Die Zeit-Begrenzung ist von Software unabhaengig. Wenn man allerdings
von PVM spricht, braucht man wahrscheinlich mehr als einen Knoten,
so dass man in die parallelen queues kommt. Standardmaessig sind
diese auf 8 Stunden beschraenkt, darueber ist die "mystery" queue,
die nach vorheriger Absprache aktiviert werden kann.

The WORK disk has currently a capacity of ca. 340 GB. The system
manager gets a warning at 95% full mark. That means about 17 GB
is still free, but the disk usage should be watched. The warning
"to everybody" is issued depending on further development, quite
often the usage sinks under the warning level by itself.

The Big Warning had (up to now) been issued about three times
and the disk usage went then under 80% mark within 20-30 minutes.

We do NOT want a quota system or group partitions on the WORK
disk, because it should give the flexibility of really large space
in tradeoff for user self-disciplin. With (currently) 20 users
on the WORK disk it should be feasible.

Hmm. With 20 users involved I could probably automatically "spam"
them at 99% used... Will think about it.

On the HOME disk the quota system is planned and will be put
into place in the near future.



Backup facility on asgard

- Einloggen auf asgard01
- rsh files02 (fuer Files im Homedirectory)
- /usr/openv/netbackup/bin/bp
      (oder /usr/openv/netbackup/bin/xbp)
       und Files selektieren und anschliessend
       restoren.
